Interview #1: Janise Colon Beauty

YAY!!! I CAN FINALLY SHARE WHAT I'VE BEEN WORKING ON!!!

You all are currently reading my first interview post! :) I had an idea pop in my head not long after creating my blog. I started thinking that I wanted to do an interview on someone every other month. I have always been an advocate for supporting others in what they love so I thought a great way to do that would be through one of MY own passions! (my blog.)

For my first interview, I chose to do it on my friend Janise! I met Janise through Instagram and I quickly became obsessed with her page! It didn't take me long to ask her if she'd be willing to participate in my interview series. I am so, so happy she said yes to letting me feature her for this! She is such a sweet, talented person and I am excited for you all to read a little about her!

INTERVIEW:

What is your name and where do you live?

What is your name and where do you live?

My name is Janise Marie Colón Negrón. ( I am Puertorican, that's why I have two last names!) I am currently living in Chicago, IL.

What are some of your favorite hobbies? 

 I enjoy playing with makeup, watching YouTube videos, shopping, reading, exploring different restaurants in my town, and going to the movies. 

Why did you initially start an Instagram?

I started Instagram because I was requested by so many people from my hometown to explain how I do my makeup! Also, I wanted to find a job online.  

Have you always enjoyed using and playing with makeup?

Since I can remember, from the moment I knew about makeup, I was obsessed. I always took my mom's makeup to play with it! (Probably at 5 years old, I am just guessing lol) 

Do you like skincare products or makeup better?

I would say 50/50. I do believe that to have great makeup, you should start with a beautiful skin. However, my love for makeup is also important for me. It is all about balance.

What are your favorite makeup brands?

My favorite makeup brands would be:

1) Anastasia Beverly Hills

2) NARS

3) L'oreal

4) Makeup Forever

5) Morphe Brushes

6) Dose of Colors

Those are just a few! The list can go on and on. 

What are five things that you think are makeup must haves?

My 5 makeup must haves are:

1. Moisturizer (no spf during the night, and with spf during the day)

2. Concealer

3. Brow Products

4. Mascara

5. Bronzer

*Honorable Mention to lip balm!

The world has so many opinions on beauty but what is your personal view on beauty?

My definition of beauty is: Being yourself, no matter what others would think.  Beauty is embracing your flaws, accepting what you cannot change about you, being the best version of yourself, and working each day on things that you know are your weaknesses. Beauty is not judging, being kind, and always respecting other opinions without questioning or changing your own.  

I am super excited to follow your new YouTube channel! What are you hoping to accomplish with your new channel?

My hopes on my new YouTube is to being able to create a platform that people can come for help and see me as a friend. I want to help any girl or boy to feel good about themselves. I want to inspire others, to learn, to expand my vision and creative mind, to overcome bullying with kindness, and to grow as a person and create helpful content.
